    Howdy,

Attached are images of a 711M 6015-BA crossflow block.

It has 2 small X's between the engine mount threads on the opp side.
The number between the XXXX's looks like 156 in inch tall raised .

    engine no. ck40xc 922278.
    = Escort Mk2

Chaps, what have we got here ?

    Thanks

    Roger,

I have a 1600 (711m motor with the same marking on as yours. I bought it here as a spare for my Tina. I have not come across these markings in the UK
on any kent blocks either. I would be interested like you for any info on them.. I have seen people ask on ebay about this xxxx thing when motors have been on there
for sale. Open to the floor....

Well I know there are peoples out there that know what these are, but they are protecting their interests, I guess.

My understanding is these were produced locally, probably because OZ was running low on blocks, late in the ESCORT MK2 production run.

I also understand they are probably better cast than the English units.
    Therefore making them more desirable.

I am certain the formula ford chaps like them.

This is probably just like the OZ cast Cleveland V8 blocks.

Interesting Roger, you could be right. I don't know to much about blocks here in Aus but the 711M motor first arrived in the UK for the Escort,Capri and
mk3 Cortina's in 1971. You will probably no this i guess?. Mine is worth hanging on to then!?!..maybe...

    Hi All

Well i've been looking at my 1600 Motor this past week. Here are a few pic's of the casting marks etc.. Took them on my phone so
sorry for the poor quality. The motor seems to have 1300 pistons in it, there are reliefs for the valves cut also, and the con rods say 2737???? on them. I await your comments..
